About the Founders

The Abermoray Garden Collective is a collaboration between Susanne Gabriele and Melissa Cameron. The garden is located in historic Kleinburg, Ontario where it was built and inhabited by Joseph and Charlotte Capner and their ten children.

Charlotte Capner was a midwife and champion of women’s rights and it is her spirit that we embrace in this project.

The Abermoray Garden Collective is a registered not-for-profit and is in the process of applying for charitable status.

Melissa is an Organic Master Gardener and founder of The Good Seed. She is passionate about the connection between human health and nature and believes that regenerative gardens can help create food security and broaden ecological diversity. In co-founding The Abermoray Garden Collective, Melissa wants to give children a chance to thrive by eating locally grown produce.

Susanne is a lawyer in private practice in Toronto. She is a graduate of Queen’s University Faculty of Law where she earned her LLB. She is called to the bar of Ontario, is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario and the Ontario Bar Association. After being called to the Bar, Susanne left the practice of law briefly to train as a psychotherapist. She currently maintains her own law practice. In addition to co-founding The Abermoray Garden Collective, Susanne works closely with Give Kids A Chance Foundation, a registered Canadian charity that helped to build and continues to support a primary school and vocational institute in Jocotenango, Guatemala.
